What should i put on nachos

Buying your cheese pre-grated works, but I find it never melts as well as when I grate it myself. Grating your own cheese really is key to getting that great, cheesy, melty thing we all love with nachos. That said, sometimes convenience just wins.

So if pre-grated cheese is what works for you, then go with it. It will be delicious, I promise! As you can tell, these are not made with the liquid style nacho cheese sauce. We prefer both the taste, and ease, of making our nachos with shredded cheese, and baking them in the oven. You truly can do whatever you want. I prefer to start with room temperature or warm ingredients when possible. This helps with even cooking. When it comes to nachos, you really can use whatever ingredients you like or have on hand.

Simply fill a baking sheet with tortilla chips, and top with ingredients of your choice. All you have to do to make these nachos is pile everything onto a cookie sheet and place it into the oven. On my nachos you see here, I used tomatoes, black olives, black beans, seasoned, cooked ground beef, avocados, corn and chives.

You could use any of those or none! Have some leftovers i the fridge? Use those up! Just sprinkle your toppings on, then give another sprinkle of cheese. I bake my nachos in the oven at degrees for anywhere between minutes. A quarter sheet or half sheet baking pan works perfectly for this recipe. The amount and kind of toppings you have can greatly impact the cooking time. Start checking it at three minutes. Take them out when the cheese is getting nice and melty. If you have a large crowd you could easily make a few trays of these, and even customize the topping for each batch.

A really fantastic party food option. Then, set out the remaining ingredients and let your family or guests top their nachos individually after baking. This can be a fun way to serve nachos at a party, allowing you to create a nacho bar, so to speak. While leftovers are a very good thing in most cases, the same cannot be said for nachos. The unfortunate reality is that nachos are a best served immediately type of food.

Reheating leftover nachos almost always leads to soggy nachos. Yes, you could use pre-shredded cheese, but if you want that stringy-gooey cheese, you have to grate it yourself. Pre-shredded cheese is coated with an anti-caking powder that prevents it from melting to its gooiest potential. There are an exhaustive array of salsas , guacamoles, and even tortillas chips that will add a mix of colors and flavors to your plate of nachos.

I recommend experimenting with one, or all, on at least a monthly basis. Many grocery stores now sell bagged tortilla chips that were fried in-house or locally.

They tend to be thicker and sturdier, which makes them great for nachos. If those are unavailable, regular store-bought triangular corn tortilla chips also work great for nachos— just definitely avoid the thin kind. If you have younger children, or older grandparents who have trouble eating, I recommend using round tortilla chips since the pointed ends of the triangular-shaped chips can sometimes be cumbersome for those diners. I take my nacho baking seriously. The cheese will melt slightly. On top of everything else that makes nachos great—their versatility, their low cost, their deliciousness—nachos are quick to make.

If you want to keep the prep easy, top your nachos with store-bought ingredients pico de gallo, guacamole, salsa, etc. The only topping I recommend making the same day is the guacamole, just to prevent it from browning excessively.

Leftovers become soggy, stale, and just plain disappointing. Pinch of cayenne pepper optional. Sliced green onions. Combine all of the spices chili powder through cayenne together in a small bowl. Heat the vegetable oil on medium high heat until it begins to shimmer.

Add the ground beef to the pan and season it with all of the taco spice blend. Back to Recipes Whole foods recipes Healthy dinners See more. Back to Recipes Vegetarian dinners Quick vegetarian See more. Back to Recipes Vegan storecupboard Vegan baking See more.
