Chucky emerges from the ashes after being rebuilt by a toy manufacturer to erase the bad press surrounding the doll, despite being burned to a char in his last adventure. In this sequel to the hugely successful original, Chucky follows his victim to a foster home, where the hunt starts all over again.
Andy Barclay, now eight years old, has become a ward of the state after his mother Karen was committed to a mental institution for sticking to her tale about Chucky in court a little more than two years after the events in the first film. Chucky returns for revenge against Andy, the young boy who defeated him, and now a teenager living in a military academy.
Play Pals Toy Company decides to re-release its Good Guys line, feeling that after all this time, the bad publicity has died down. As they re-used old materials, the spirit of Charles Lee Ray once again comes to life. In his search for Andy, Chucky falls into the hands of a younger boy, and he realizes that it may be easier to transfer his soul into this unsuspecting child.
Chucky, who is still trying to reclaim his humanity, devises a strategy to recover the body-switching amulet Ray was wearing the night he was murdered. The amulet was buried beside his corpse at a Hackensack, New Jersey cemetery. Chucky, on the other hand, determines that he needs someone else to assist him with his dirty job. The deadly doll has reappeared. Glen is the orphan doll child of Chucky, the irrepressible wicked doll-come-to-life, and Tiffany, his similarly twisted wife.
Although Glen — or is it, Glenda? Jennifer Tilly quickly becomes an unknowing hostess to this new family in more ways than one. The short follows Chucky, Tiffany, and Glen after they return from a family vacation, set after the filming of Seed of Chucky.
Tiffany sees numerous bodies in the backdrop of some pictures while looking through their vacation photos on a slide projector, understanding that Chucky has started murdering people again. Tiffany departs, followed by a heartbroken and disgusted Glen, while Chucky continues to look at the photos. Chucky lures a pizza delivery guy to his garage and murders him off-screen when he comes with the pizza.
A series of short film videos were produced leading up to the DVD release of Curse of Chucky in Several clips revealed Chucky interfering with the plots of other horror movies.
